Achieve Integrative Health Works with Red Oak Hope

(September 22, 2024) - Achieve Integrative Health was introduced to Red Oak Hope via a church friend, Kathy Smith-Willman. Kathy is the chair woman for Red Oak Hope and is passionate about serving the forgotten and helpless people in the world. There are 40 million victims of human trafficking today. 15 million victims of forced marriage, and 5 million victims of forced sexual labor. When most people think of sex trafficking, they imagine girls being kidnapped, held against their will, and sold for sex. Oftentimes people think everyone in the commercial sex industry is a victim of sex trafficking. The reality is, it’s just not that simple.

Because of this, Red Oak Hope focuses on Exploitation rather than only trafficking or the commercial sex industry. Sexual Exploitation is: any actual or attempted sexual abuse for the purpose of the perpetrator’s profit financially, socially, or politically. To stop this, Red Oak Hope focuses on Prevention, Intervention, and Restoration - all through the lens of partnership.

Prevention: they work to stop women and children from becoming victims in the first place. They’re involved in education, economic empowerment, family preservation, awareness, training officials, and prosecution of perpetrators.

Intervention: they provide rescue and/or immediate aid for those looking to leave exploitation. They work to create a specific intervention plan for every individual including safe shelter, food, medical care, immigration services, counseling and repatriation

Restoration immediate aid and rescue is just the beginning of the long journey to freedom. They work towards long term restoration and sustainability by providing transitional housing, vocational training, holistic care, and long-term counseling.

Through it all, Red Oak Hope relies heavily on Partnership: when facing an issue as complex as human trafficking and exploitation, they understand that none of us can do it alone. They believe everyone has a role to play and they focus on partnership in every aspect of their work.
