These days, the ideal meal consists of 85% from plants and 15% from animals. Reading from Japanese Gastroenterologist and Surgeon Dr. Hiromi Shinya’s book The Enzyme Factor, a question comes to mind – “won’t I lack essential proteins?” Even if you eat the food source of protein such as meat and fish doesn’t necessarily mean that it builds up your body directly. That is because proteins formed from amino vary in their arrangements. Amino acids are basically building blocks. Inside the human intestine, protein gets absorbed by intestinal walls only after being broken down by digestive enzymes into amino acids. It really doesn’t matter if you eat animal protein or plant protein because it has to be broken-down into amino acids before it gets absorbed. They then get resynthesized in the body into the necessary proteins. Amino acids are so precious and animal proteins are considered a good quality protein since they contain a lot of essential amino acids. So, a lot of nutritionists recommend eating a lot of animal protein like the Paleo diet. But what people don’t know is that plant protein also contains many essential amino acids, although not all – Grain, cereal, legumes, vegetables, mushrooms, fruits, and sea vegetables all contain amino acids. Functional medicine preaches that legumes and grains are not good for you, because you need to eat more animal protein but that’s not the truth. What he found through his work is by looking at people’s intestines, it is almost the same as what people have been doing in Chinese medicine for thousands of years. Amongst all vegetable foods, soybeans are considered the meat of the fields because they contain an abundance of amino acids and are not inferior compared to meat. And plant protein can be digested more easily without depleting your source enzymes, as meat does. So, soybeans protein is equivalent to animal protein meat. Are you going to just listen to research of less than a hundred years old? Or will you consider looking for proven research that’s been around for 3000 years? This is dispelling the myth that you need to eat more animal protein and soybeans are terrible for you because it is inflammatory food. I’m setting the record straight – organic soybeans are better and are equal to animal protein because they can easily be digested by the body. If you want to have the best quality of life, don’t fall for the misinformation that you need to stay away from soybeans and that you need to eat more animal protein.
